AMG Group Sydney BMW

In December 2023, Australian Motor Group (AMG), a 25-dealership, 13-brand family-owned automotive group, took on the challenge of digitally transforming its newly acquired Sydney BMW dealership, formerly BMW Corporate's flagship Sydney store. The mandate: move off BMW Corporate systems onto an independent domain while modernising the underlying IT infrastructure, without disrupting a working dealership.

The engagement

C4X led the full transition from the BMW corporate domain to Sydney BMW's new independent domain, a complete infrastructure change covering connectivity, and modernised routers, switches and Wi-Fi systems. Integrating the dealership's electronic document management system required a bespoke solution once the standard integration path did not work, built and deployed under project timelines.

Modern Management was rolled out across every user device, enabling single sign-on across AMG Group dealerships and full use of Microsoft 365 Business Premium. Security was addressed with application controls, automated asset discovery for vulnerability scanning, and macro protection and application hardening across the Microsoft ecosystem. Network resilience was built around advanced switches with stacking and automatic failover, and network access was restricted to corporate networks and devices, with all corporate wireless secured through Intune MDM and authentication managed via AWS.

Much of the cutover work ran overnight to avoid disrupting trading hours, a deliberate choice given the dealership could not afford daytime downtime during the transition.

Outcome

The project was completed rapidly and with minimal disruption to dealership operations. Sydney BMW came out the other side with a modernised, independently secured infrastructure and stronger security posture, positioned for ongoing growth as part of the AMG Group.
